Here’s an interesting picture from the recent Orthodox Christmas
Every year, Putin goes to an outlying region for the Nativity liturgy service of the Russian Orthodox Church. Maybe it’s somehow staged, but I get a sense from skipping through the two hour RT propaganda-cast that it isn’t. I think Putin’s people really do pick a small church, vet the parishioners, remove any potential troublemakers and then Putin goes to the liturgy. What impresses me is how unexcited everyone seems to be. They’re just at church: “I guess the president is here, but whatevs, my feet hurt”. This is characteristic of all continentals, but especially of Slavs and Scandis, able to hold a neutral face, not always grinning like us Anglos.
Americans would practically lose their minds if a B-list celebrity were in the same room as them. They’d be visibly self conscious, possibly grinning like fools. The only one who seems to be doing that in the screen cap above is the kid behind Putin, in the grey, who looks like he does a lot of shoulder press.
For me, Christmas time is the best time of the year. I like the decorations, the traditions, the Christmas liturgies and midnight masses. Christmas is a reminder that we, as Americans, are a people with a past, we came from somewhere and despite everything, we’ve retained much of that past, even if it is in vestigial form.
The weeks following new years however, are a bit glum. It’s particularly empty this year, with temperatures in the south below freezing. I look forward to Spring.
I’ve discovered Jordan Peterson recently. He’s good.
The common thread in his work seems to be: if you don’t get a handle on the left, and start winding down some of the excesses of globalism, post modernity and racist antiwhite attitudes, the neo fascists will take over and you won’t like that.
I was talking with a Scottish friend recently and he was telling me about how hopeless Labour are these days.
I’m going to say upfront that I’ve never put the skull-sweat in to learn precisely how British parliament works. But I gather there’s something called the “house of lords” and the “house of commons” and that basically we need to kill all the males with Norman surnames.
Apparently labor simply can’t win and has no prospects, now that the SNP have risen and take a big chunk of the Scottish vote. It turns out that Scotland:UK as California:USA, at least in terms of population and raw pounds of manflesh.
This makes me think about the prospective and hypothetical “Calexit”, wherein California leaves the USA. The GOP would be simply unconstrained under the current paradigm should Calexit happen. If this would be good or bad remains to be seen, I find myself leaning toward a more Great Man theory these days.
If we get a Great Man, like we hope Trump will be, then it’s going to be good. If we get a John McCaine, or Lindsey Graham type, someone obviously controlled by some dirty secrets, well then Sad.
Sailer’s shared some thoughts on the matter of Israeli spying. It just might be possible that the third-worldist left is driving the Zionists into Trumps hands. An influential, but dangerous ally:
If it turns out that Bibi was behind the Podesta leaks, well then this is how I would feel:
Here’s a lil clip of Kellyanne Conway, Trump’s campaign manager and now some sort of high up adviser. Appearing for an interview with a slightly derranged Rachel Maddow.
I enjoy watching leftist-controlled media just to see how biased it is, and what tricks they employ. One thing I picked up on in the primaries is that the left loved it when they figured out what the “nuclear triad” is. The triad is the idea that you put nuclear weapons on subs, in hardened missile silos and on strategic bombers (usually attached to cruise missiles) such as the B-52, B-1b or the Tu-160.
Leftists are a people characterized by their weakness. I’ve often said that progressivism in the modern sense is a cult of weakness, as it seeks to propagate and glorify weakness at every turn. Liberal reporters are people who can’t interact with the physical world. They can’t fix a washing machine, they can’t shoot or field strip a gun and they certainly don’t know anything about military operations. Yet they’ve latched on to knowing what the “nuclear triad” is, so you could be a person who knows we can deliver nukes by various means, but haven’t heard this fact grouped together under the term “nuclear triad” and so some leftist like Maddow can appear to ‘get’ you when she pulls this random fact out of a hat.
This is what the left is reduced to. Their ideas have so clearly failed to deliver, that rather than argue themes, they resort to asking “got-chas” “who has the most nukes after USA and Russia?” “What do you think of Aleppo?” these sorts of irrelevant hair splitting questions on details that can be easily looked up but don’t address the big themes. It’s a sign that they’re on the way out. Really think about it, Maddow gets Conway on, someone who manages a campaign, and starts asking her frantic questions about nuclear weapons policy. What the hell does Conway know about this? and why should she know about it? She’s a PR organization type.
